A Random Album Review! Rated R

Today I'm going to look at Rated R by Rihanna from late 2009. Why, cause it's a great album. Made after her incident, in her "dark" period the album really reflects that. It's a roller-coaster into Rihanna's Mad House that I enjoyed more than any of her other work.

Now Here's a chart:

3.5
"Hard" (featuring Jeezy)
4
"Stupid in Love"
4.5
"Rockstar 101" (featuring Slash)
4.5
4.5
"Fire Bomb"
5
5
"Photographs" (featuring will.i.am)
3
"G4L"
4
3
"Cold Case Love"
2.5
"The Last Song"
4

My least favorite song is the one produced by Justin Timberlake Cold Case Love, it takes to much time to build up for no real payoff and to be honest I've never really been a huge fan of his work in the first place. My favorite song is probably Fire Bomb whose metaphors and emotion are in full gear giving and actually has a better guitar riff than Rockstar 101. Admittedly my most played track is Rude Boy, which is the best up-tempo song on the album and deserved to top the charts.

Though the best thing about this album is the atmosphere she creates with it. Every song adds to it creating a great album and not just a collection of songs that most albums (and even Rihannas album LOUD) seem to be bringing to the table.

Now the albums not perfect, Rihanna strains to make The Last Song the big ballad she wants it to be. She's no Whitney Houston. Photograph with will.i.am also seems to fall flat being neither bad nor good. Thankfully these or even Cold Case Love take away majorly from the album at large.

Rated R is deftinetly one of Pop's greatest bad-breakup albums.
