Taylor Swift Swiftly Sells a Million Albums!
In what could only be the perfect storm Taylor Swift did what even I thought would be impossible in this day and age. She sold 1,047,000, an impressive feat indeed. She really did have everything together this week. Good coverage, she was on a many of talk shows. Good hype, there was so much talk about who the songs were actually about. Good reviews, I wasn't the only one to do a smashing critique. Everything came together this week to give her these stunning sells and I doubt even Susan Boyle will be able to compete with her this year.

Song of the Day: What's My Name?
Rihanna may not be the best singer or performer, but one thing she is great at is putting out great pop music. As someone who loves music for music Rihanna is a gift who keeps on giving. Her newest single What's My Name featuring Drake is a nice little ditty in the vein of her hit Rudeboy. It's freash, fun, has a good rap interlude, and is my Song of the Day!
What's My Name? Feat. Drake is on sale now! Her fifth album Loud, will be released November 10!

Katy Perry's Firework looks to be Another Hit...Meh
With the release of her music video Katy Perry's new single Firework shot up to the top twenty of iTunes. Now time to be a little mean I do not this song at all. A lot of the lyrics are clichéd quips wrapped around the metaphor of everyone being a bight firework and that's not the even the greatest offense. That would be her atrocious singing. Now Katy is a competent singer, but Firework is just way out of her range. This makes the song nearly unlistenable as her raspy voice yells out the chorus. Someone like Kelly Clarkson could do it, but not poor Katy Perry. She should stick to the sing talking from her last two hits...
Anyways it could be worse at least Firework isn't a metaphor for sex or something. Now here's the music video where fireworks come out of Katy's gazongas!

Song of the Day: Parachute!
Today's Song of the Day is by UK superstar Cheryl Cole. If you don' know who she is well Cheryl is a judge of the popular show X-Factor (no word on if she will be still judge when Simon Cowell brings the show over to the US) and was apart of the girl group Girls Aloud. Often tabloid fodder she has become a star in her own right.
Solo she's relased two albums and Parachute is from her debut 3 Words. The lovely track is one of the best on her critcially panned album and definitely the best single she has released.

Song of the Day: Only Girl In The World (CCW Radio Mix)
It's only been 6 years since Rihanna first appeared with her single Pon de Replay which stormed up to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the girl hasn't stopped since. With 7 number one hits Rihanna is one of the biggest hit makers in the business and any song released with her on it is bound to be a hit.
Well she's back with a much different sound from her opus Rated R and I didn't really like it. Only Girl seemed to be too safe and was just being used to get Rihanna a hit and so far it hasn't exactly worked (its currently stalled at number 3 and I don't see it ever reaching the top). Though that doesn't mean its a terrible song what it needed was a good remix and that this is.
Only Girl In The World (CCW Radio Mix) is much better than the original in my opinion and is my song of the day. It can be found here, I also recommend the The Bimbo Jones Radio Mix and the Mixin Marc & Tony Svejda Radio Mix. Rihanna's next album Loud will be released November, 10 with the original song so keep a look out for that!

Song of the Day: Raise Your Glass!
So Song of the Day is essentially the song I most love at this point in time that I want to share so I'll be doing it daily or every few days. For the first Song of the Day I had a hard time to choose just one song. I mean Taylor Swifts new album just dropped, and due to the holiday season coming up, every big artist and their protégé are releasing something. In in the end I wanted to spotlight one of my fav artist and her newest single, Raise Your Glass by the indomitable P!nk!
The song is a ultra fun party anthem about being yourself that just makes you wanna have a good time. Being featured on her new greatest hits collection the song is very much a Pink song and her personality shines through. The only problem that I first heard with the track was the spoken word part slowed it down to much to make it a true party song. Though its still a great song from an even greater singer so be to skool for cool and give it a listen.

Willow Whips Her Hair to the Top 10 of iTunes!
At this moment Willow is sitting pretty at #2 on iTunes. There's no doubt that this she's going to make a dent on the Billboard Hot 100...sigh. Not only is Will Smith a huge star, but his wife has a pretty good carrer and so does their son Jaden. Now Willow comes along and already has a hit song at age 9... I wish I was apart of a super family.

Album of the Week - Speak Now!
So Tay-Tay has done it again. This week Miss Swift released her much anticipated third album Speak Now, exciting indeed. I have never been the biggest Taylor Swift fan in the past. I thought she was a great songwriter, but she just never deserved all the hype she got. That's until this album came around and it finally clicked. Now I'm a full fledged Swift fan.
The album is amazing! The songs are of course well-written and range from her usually songs about boys to more softer songs that deal with a different side of her life. These softer songs in question are the darling Innocent and the simple Never Grow Up. They deal with forgiveness and the harshness of growing up in beautiful ways.
That's not to say that her love songs aren't bad. Excluding Sparks Fly, which is essentially a more up-beat version of the song Fearless from her last album, they are wonderful. The emotion in these songs is clear and there's bound to be a song where you yourself have been in the same situation. From the somber Last Kiss, where she mourns the end of a relationship . To Enchanted, a song about being spellbound by a first meeting.
Final Verdict: It's Great! If your not convinced yet listen to Haunted, for a different sound that Taylor hasn't done before. Better than Revenge, just to hear Miss Swift say the line "she's better known for what she does on the mattress" and the title track Speak Now for its sheer adorableness! Or you could just buy it to hear what she has to say about her more famous ex's!
1st Posting...FUN!
My first post on my blog...exciting!
So I'm mainly starting this blog because I have free time and want to share my thoughts on music. I've never done this before, so this will diffidently be a learning process. I hope people will eventually read this, but in the end it doesn't matter its nice just to have a blog.
